About Us

I’m Robert Feil, and I’ve been in the financial services industry for the last twenty years, projecting
the futures of companies and individuals to help them put their money to work toward their
prosperity.

I founded Waterfront College Planning in 2006 to provide solutions to a challenge that is facing more
and more parents:

“How do I find a great college or university for my child and pay for it
without sacrificing my own retirement money?”

In a few years, your children will be going off to college.  The average total cost of attending a public university this year is $25,000 to $30,000.  Multiply that by 5 years to graduate and 3 kids, and families face a total bill of maybe $400,000.  The kicker is that this bill comes due 5 to 10 years before you retire.

Cost of College

In the last few years, I’ve seen more and more parents sacrifice their own retirement money to pay
for their child’s education. You shouldn’t have to choose!

Most families know that they should apply for financial aid, but they don’t know how to go about doing it effectively.  They end up receiving few significant awards and many loan applications, neither of which solves the financial problem.  Loans either saddle their children with debt just as they start their adult lives, or they take away from the parents’ retirement as they start a new phase in their lives.

I saw this as I worked with some of my own financial planning clients.  And I realized that paying for college is more than just filling out financial aid applications and hoping for the best.  It’s finding schools that will make the best effort to reach out to your family with meaningful aid.  It’s making your child desirable enough to these schools that they will do the most they can to attract your family to them.  It’s researching the financial aid system to see how your family finances should be positioned to legally and ethically get the most help.

To better serve families in this situation, I received my Certified College Planning Specialist credential from the National Institute of Certified College Planners, one of the leading organizations in the country that specializes in this unique niche.

Then, working with different consultants and other resources to focus on this issue, I developed a system to guide you through everything you need to do to get your child accepted to schools that will benefit him or her most, and maximize your chances of getting meaningful, non-loan financial aid.  Our system is a logical, coherent approach that meets these objectives.  Each month in our program contains different steps for you and us to complete on your pathway to college.

We stay in touch with you each month to keep you on track toward achieving everything you need to.  For the particular items that require our specialized expertise (like searching for the right schools and filling out financial aid forms), we take care of those for you, so you don’t even have to worry about them.

Most of all, as you face the challenges of getting into great schools and figuring out how to pay for them, when you enroll in our program, you will reap the benefits of knowing just what you have to do, at just the right time, and that we will be there to take care of everything else that you shouldn’t be expected to handle.

Give us a call at (732) 643-1005 to arrange for a free consultation.  We’ll answer all of your college planning questions for you, and show you how working with us will significantly benefit your children and your family.  We look forward to meeting you.
